TP-Messdienst von VantarIS

Was ist das?

Dieser Dienst prüft im Auftrag von Domaininhabern, wie gut ihre Domain und ihr Mailempfang abgesichert sind. Die Inhaber nutzen dafür die Plattform VantarIS und haben dort nachgewiesen, dass die Domain ihnen gehört. Der Dienst misst nur; bewertet wird in VantarIS.

Was wird geprüft?

• DNS-Abfragen über einen eigenen validierenden Resolver: NS, SOA, MX, TXT (SPF, DMARC, DKIM, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT), DNSSEC, CAA und TLSA. SOA und CAA fragt der Dienst zusätzlich direkt bei den autoritativen Nameservern ab.
• Ein HTTPS-Abruf der MTA-STS-Policy unter https://mta-sts.<domain>/.well-known/mta-sts.txt, ohne Weiterleitungen.
• Je MX-Server eine SMTP-Verbindung zu Port 25: Begrüßung, EHLO probe.vantaris.v8n.it, STARTTLS, Lesen des Zertifikats, QUIT. Es wird kein MAIL FROM gesendet und keine Mail zugestellt.

Wie oft?

In der Regel einmal pro Woche je Domain; je Messung höchstens eine Verbindung je MX-Server.

VantarIS TP measurement service

What is this?

This service checks, on behalf of domain owners, how well their domain and their inbound mail are secured. The owners use the VantarIS platform and have proven there that they control the domain. The service only measures; the assessment happens in VantarIS.

What is checked?

• DNS queries through its own validating resolver: NS, SOA, MX, TXT (SPF, DMARC, DKIM, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT), DNSSEC, CAA and TLSA. SOA and CAA are also queried directly at the authoritative name servers.
• One HTTPS request for the MTA-STS policy at https://mta-sts.<domain>/.well-known/mta-sts.txt, without following redirects.
• One SMTP connection to port 25 per MX host: greeting, EHLO probe.vantaris.v8n.it, STARTTLS, reading the certificate, QUIT. No MAIL FROM is sent and no mail is delivered.

How often?

Usually once a week per domain; at most one connection per MX host per measurement.

EHLO name probe.vantaris.v8n.it. The HTTPS request sends the User-Agent vantaris-tp-messdienst/… (+https://probe.vantaris.v8n.it/).
